I'll say it again. The best album of the year.
People say the second album is suppose to be the sophomore slump. For The Raconteurs, they advance ahead to the senior class. The Raconteurs newest album, Consolers of the Lonely, very well may be one of the greatest American rock and roll albums in the past ten years. During their first year, it was often mentioned Jack White said The Raconteurs was not a project. The band wasn't some experiment he was trying out. The Raconteurs are a real band. They are as real as it gets. This band and this album are proof Jack White is music making machine. There's no stopping him. And please get out of his way. Let the man say what he needs to. The boys have created an album calling upon a menagerie of what make-up the sound of American music. This album lays down a foundation of rock and carefully adds layers of inter woven blues, country, jazz, and psychedelic. To top it off, I swear there's a couple of moments where they throw in a little Motown. The Consolers of the Lonely is a sonic tour de force.
In the early 90s Kiss wrote a song called "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II". If the words to it be true... I guess The Raconteurs were sent from heaven.
