iLike: Official Blog | Official Site | Wikipedia
There's a cool new place to hangout in town and it's called iLike. I like iLike. There's the main website and a downloadable sidebar application for iTunes. From the main website, you do the usual create a profile. You can look around at other members and make friends. You can also immediately start clicking away "liking" musica artists. iLike turns around and suggests other artists for you to like based on which artist you justed liked. It's fairly accurate. For iTunes, download the iLike Sidebar and it plugs it right into iTunes as a sidbar. You'll get news bulletins, videos, and additional music suggestions. You can also see what your iLike.com friends are listening to.
The iLike Sidbar appliction can also be tied into your profile for other social websites such as Facebook and MySpace. This is a really cool feature. Why is that? Let me give you an example. If you have a Facebook profile, you can add the Facebook iLike applicaiton. Search for music artists. Visit their iLike Facebook pages and click on their iLike button. Your Facebook profile, the iLike Sidebar, and your iLike.com profile are all synchronized. On your Facebook profile, your friends can see which music artists you like. For your MySpace page, there's the iLike widget that's sort of similar to the Last.fm widget. It's also tied into the iLike Sidebar and your iLike.com profile. It's another way for people to discover what kind of music you enjoy listening to.
Here's my iLike profile.
Oh... One more thing.
iLike also works with your iPhone.
*UPDATE*: It's over... Sonific is offline as of tonight (April 30 / May 1) - but we maybe back soon.
Just the other week, I switched on the Beta Vox features. It's truly painless and easy to do. I wanted to start embedding media into my sidebar. The question quickly became "what to use?" or "what works?" is really more like it.
There's the Flickr badge. It just seemed too redundant for me considering I'm constantly posting my latest photos and linking back to any set I my have created.
The Twitter badge, pretty much works. You need to make a slight adjustment to the width. My only problem with it is I tend to be a slacker Twitter, so there's not much Twiittering from me.
The Last.fm widget still still needs some work. It doesn't completely fit and when you click on a track inside of it, it opens the link within the widget instead of a new tab/webpage. "Boo", get with it already, Last.fm.
And now.
I discovered the Sonific SongSpots widget within, of all places, Six Parts's (makers of Vox) own TypePad Widget gallery. If you're gonna place in your sidebar, set the Target web site to Other (Object & Embed), set it for vertical (of course) and use the size option "Medium", it will set the width to 150 for you and adjust the height to keep the proportions. I set the widget to not start the music automatically.

Fantasia Barrino, I didn't forget about you. I remembering cheering for Fantasia during season three of American Idol. Her singing and stage presence were so natural. I picked her to win that year. From her first album, Free Yourself, I bought two tracks. "I Believe" was a song she sung during the competition and "It's All Good" was a new song written for the album. Note to self: buy the rest of the album.
Well, the time has come for Fantasia's sophomore album, the hump album, the make you or break you album. There are four songs to listen to on her Myspace page. Her official website isn't ready yet. Fantasia's new self titled album is due December 12th. In the meantime check out the music video for her new single "Hood Boy".
