Don't really have time to blog about this. Bagpipes Pup and Eatery is still sort of a new place in Ausitn, TX. It's a nice place with decent enough food.

I was up in Austin, again, at the Alamo Drafthouse Village for the Monday night TV parties for 24 and the mid-season premier of Heroes. While watching 24, I had a small popcorn and ice tea. For Heroes, I had a "Porky's" pepperoni pizza and water. I was kind of sad to see for both showings, the theater was about a quarter full. Apparently, people prefer watching Battlestar Galactica up on the big screen.
This past Friday evening, I went to Dirty Martin's. It was new for me and old for my friend, Frank. We started off with some Dirty Nachos. They tasted like nachos you'd find at sport bars. For myself, I ordered the Large Hamburger ( double meat, mayonnaise, pickle, tomato) minus the pickle. When our burgers arrived, I couldn't help but notice they sort of looked like burgers from Short Stop. Frank was pretty much in agreement with me. As I started eating my way through Dirty Martin's hamburger, I pretty much felt like a Short Stop burger tastes way better. I guess they can't be all winners.
Hut's Hamburgers. It Has been years since I had a hamburger from Hut's. Seeing as how my friend, Frank, had not eaten for the day, it made perfect sense. I tried the longhorn free range burger. Different taste, not too bad.
Headed up to Austin, TX in the early afternoon. I was gonna attend Bloodshots. More on that later. I got into town and first stopped off at Best Buy to cruise the new DVDs. The night before, I was listening to the DVD Talk Radio Podcast. It was an interview with Kevin Smith. They were talking about the upcoming Clerks II and An Evening With Kevin Smith II DVDs. Unfortunately, they're still a couple weeks from being released. There wasn't anything else on the shelves I've been currently jones'n for, so time for some lunch.
I made my way to A La Carrera. It's a local Austin Tex-Mex restaurant that I haven't been too in awhile. The place is lite on customers and I settled down to have my old reliable. You can't go wrong with beef stuffed quesadillas. I just wish they would stop with the little chunks of carrots in the rice. Enough, already! As I'm a couple bites from finishing, I it a call from my friend, Frank. When I tell him where I'm at, I can hear the sadness in his voice. That's what he gets for waiting several hours to call me back.
I get done with my catnap and get ready to head downtown. Frank has to stay put. Again, he's low on funds and is starting a new job the next day. The new job is actually at a previous company which is also the same company I worked for, twice and finally got away from. Oh...the ups and downs of the tech industry. Let's move forward shall we. I get into my favorite place to buy music, Waterloo Records. Yes, I drive out of town to Austin to buy my music. It's one of the excuses I keep using to go back to Austin. There's several new albums I want, but I settle on the latest from The S-O-V. That would be Lady Sovereign for the uninformed out there. I skip on also getting any new concert tickets. I still haven't made up my mind for the month of December.
Finally, I made my way to the downtown Alamo Drafthouse. This is the original Alamo Drafthouse where is all started a decade ago. Tonight is the 2006 fall edition of Bloodshots: Best-Of Screening. You can find out about the Bloodshots film competition and watch the films on the official website.
It was a bloody good show.
