The Raconteurs: iLike | iTunes | Last.fm | MySpace | Official Site | Wikipedia
I'll say it again. The best album of the year.
People say the second album is suppose to be the sophomore slump. For The Raconteurs, they advance ahead to the senior class. The Raconteurs newest album, Consolers of the Lonely, very well may be one of the greatest American rock and roll albums in the past ten years. During their first year, it was often mentioned Jack White said The Raconteurs was not a project. The band wasn't some experiment he was trying out. The Raconteurs are a real band. They are as real as it gets. This band and this album are proof Jack White is music making machine. There's no stopping him. And please get out of his way. Let the man say what he needs to. The boys have created an album calling upon a menagerie of what make-up the sound of American music. This album lays down a foundation of rock and carefully adds layers of inter woven blues, country, jazz, and psychedelic. To top it off, I swear there's a couple of moments where they throw in a little Motown. The Consolers of the Lonely is a sonic tour de force.
In the early 90s Kiss wrote a song called "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II". If the words to it be true... I guess The Raconteurs were sent from heaven.
R.E.M.: Bebo | iLike | iTunes | Last.fm | MySpace | Official Site | Wikipedia
I recently discovered a new music community/service called iLike. As far as I can tell, R.E.M. is the first major artist to feature their entire new album for listening before for it's release date via iLike. As I type this blog entry, I'm listening to Accelerate. I'm definitely liking want I'm hearing. The boys are back and in fine form. This album is proof again that bands who've been together for long periods of time need to take a break every now and then. There are gonna be two versions, both a regular CD and a deluxe CD/DVD. I will be purchasing a copy. The album will be available on April 1st.
Go listen to the entire new album of R.E.M.'s Accelerate.
Late Monday afternoon, I found myself once again at Waterloo Records. First grab was the new The Hush Sound's album Goodbye Blues.
I'm listening to it as I type this entry. I can safely say it's another
hit for them. There are some wonderful moments when co-lead singer
Greta Salpeter vocally leans a little towards Regina Spektor. As for The Hush Sound, I've always likened them for a more adult sounding Panic At The Disco.
Funny I should mention that since they are on tour together. BTW, that
was not a shot at PATD. I also enjoy their music and saw them in
concert last year.
For some reading martial I bought the new issues of both music magazines Paste and Skyscraper. I was delighted to see Gnarls Barkley on the cover of Paste. Their new album in physical form is out in stores today. Skyscraper had kind of ticked me of these past few weeks. On Skyscraper's MySpace page, they announced the latest issue was out. This was at the beginning of this march. Three weeks later, and after SXSW '08, it finally found it's way to Austin, TX.
To finally round out my music purchasing spree, I bought a ticket for the Ladytron/Datarock concert in June at Stubb's. I last saw Ladytron with CSS opening for them during their 2006 tour. I can't wait!

Yes, I still need to purchase Daft Punk's Alive 2007 album. This is regardless to the fact that I already have the bootleg. It was released just a week after the original concert. The recording puts you right there in the crowd and damn if they ain't having an awesome time. I can only hope, someday the French techno funk duo will make their way to central Texas.
Also have a look at fellow Voxer(s) W♥M recent post Daft Punk - Alive 2007.
That all being said, here are a couple alternate videos for Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.

Canadian Quin twins, Tegan and Sara, have released their newest music video "Back In Your Head". It is also the first single off their most excellent new album The Con. This album hasn't left my car from the day I bought it. This might be the first CD I wear out. If you haven't yet purchased it, first slap yourself upside your head, next run out and get it. I highly recommend the CD/DVD special edition. The DVD features a 90 minute behind the scenes making of "The Con: The Movie" filmed (in HD) while they worked on the album. If you're a die hard fan, this is not to be missed.

- The Interface with Tegan and Sara - free audio and video podcast (download)
- Tegan and Sara at Amoeba Music - free video, from July 24th, 2007 (streaming)

Spoon's newest music video features a robot Keepon (developed by Hideki Kozima and programmed by Marek Michalowski) dancing to the "Don't You Evah" on their latest album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. Spoon's Jim Eno followed by Britt Daniel do make cameos. They are the American's dressed in all black sporting sunglasses. The video was a collaboration between Wired magazine, including creative director and TM alum Scott Dadich, and created by Austin filmmaker Swampy Jeff Nichols.

My previous post of
Spoon's new music video for "The Underdog" is currently not available on MySpace. "Boo".
Alright then, how about taking a look at the music video for "The Ghost of You Lingers" which is also on their new album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.

Linkin Park: Official Site | Last.fm | MySpace | Wikipedia
The new issue of Wired magazine is out. There is an amazing article about Linkin Park's lead singer Chester Bennington. The article gives full detail about the hell he and his wife went through recently with a cyberstalker. From how it started, the cast of people brought in to finder the stalker to where the stalker worked, it's a damn good read.
That said, I picked up Linkin Park's newest album Minutes To Midnight. It starts off strong and keeps going. I love how after the first track, they weren't afraid to change out fast tunes with slow ones. Too many bands put heavy tunes up front and then around track five everything comes to a screeching halt. I also like the look of the packaging and the booklet inside. They, along with several other bands, are on the Projekt Revolution Tour 2007. The tour will be headed my way later this summer, but I haven't decided if I'll be going, yet, maybe...possibly.
